The basics
What is inpatient drug rehab in Utah?
Inpatient drug rehab — also called residential treatment — means you live at the facility full-time during your program. No commutes, no returning home to the same environment that contributed to the addiction, and no distractions from doing the actual work of recovery.
For many people, this level of structure is what makes the difference. Outpatient care works well for some, but if the addiction is severe, if there’s a co-occurring mental health condition, or if the home environment isn’t safe, inpatient treatment gives you the foundation everything else is built on.
Our inpatient drug treatment program in Utah runs 24 hours a day. You’ll have access to licensed therapists, peer support, medical oversight, structured programming, and a residential community of people who understand what you’re going through — because they’re in it too.
Why Liberty
What makes our inpatient rehab in Utah different
There are a lot of inpatient rehab facilities in Utah. Here’s what separates Liberty from the rest.
Joint Commission Certified
Psychology Today Verified
Primary Mental Health Facility
Medicaid Accepted
New 27,000 sq ft facility
Our new American Fork location features spacious living quarters, a full-service kitchen with home-cooked meals, and daily access to local recreation centers for fitness and wellness.
Dual diagnosis care
As a Primary Mental Health facility, Liberty treats addiction and co-occurring conditions — depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma — simultaneously, under one roof. Most facilities can’t say that.
Medicaid accepted
Liberty is one of the very few inpatient rehab centers in Utah that accepts Utah Medicaid. If you qualify, your residential treatment may be covered at zero out-of-pocket cost.
60 residential beds
We expanded specifically to reduce wait times. When you’re ready, we want a bed available. Capacity is no longer an excuse for not getting help.
Trauma-informed from day one
Most addiction has roots in unresolved trauma. Our clinical team is specifically trained in trauma-informed approaches that go deeper than symptom management.
Lifelong continuum of care
After residential treatment, clients have a clear path: sober living scholarships, IOP and PHP at our West Jordan facility, employment pathways, and an active alumni program.

Daily structure
What a day in our inpatient drug treatment program actually looks like
A common fear going into inpatient treatment is not knowing what the days will feel like. Here’s a realistic picture:
Morning
Personal routine + group therapy. Early structure builds the foundation for the day. After personal care and a hot breakfast, the first group therapy session brings you together with peers and a licensed clinician.
Afternoon
Individual therapy. One-on-one sessions with your assigned clinician. This is where deeper work happens — identifying root causes, processing trauma, and building coping tools that hold up after you leave.
Activities
Wellness + life skills. Daily access to local recreation centers. Structured programming includes life skills, goal-setting sessions, and
family therapy where applicable.
Evening
Community + reflection. Structured wind-down, peer connection, and preparation for the next day. Our clients rated peer support 8.8/10 — and community is one of the strongest predictors of sustained recovery.
Choosing the right level of care
Is inpatient drug rehab in Utah right for you?
Inpatient treatment is typically the right starting point when:
✓ The addiction is severe or long-standing
✓ Previous outpatient attempts haven’t held
✓ There’s a co-occurring mental health condition
✓ The home environment isn’t safe for recovery
✓ Medical detox is needed before treatment begins
✓ Daily structure and accountability are needed

Cocaine addiction
Poly-substance use disorders
Depression + anxiety (co-occurring)
PTSD and trauma disorders
Nicotine dependency

I've been to residential 22 times and Liberty helped me in ways that no other program ever could. Shain (peer support) saved my life on my first day when I... read more tried to run away. Bryce (house manager) took me out side of my comfort zone and helped me over come my fear and trauma responses. Miranda, Oaklee, and Whitney (case managers) helped me identify and achieve post residential goals. Roger (owner) helped me rediscover my spirituality with his weekly inspirational groups. Ryan (therapist) lead the best group ever, GO GROUP B!!! Thank you to the rest of Liberty staff for supporting me without coddling me, and giving me the opportunity to find sobriety, strength, and hope.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about inpatient drug rehab in Utah
How long does inpatient drug rehab in Utah typically last?
Most residential programs run 30 to 90 days depending on individual clinical needs. At Liberty, your length of stay is set by your treatment team, not a fixed calendar. Many clients transition to PHP or IOP following residential to continue building momentum.
Does Liberty accept Medicaid for inpatient rehab?
Yes. Liberty is one of the few inpatient rehab centers in Utah that accepts Utah Medicaid for residential treatment. If you qualify, your program costs may be covered at zero out-of-pocket cost. Use our insurance verification tool or call (801) 997-9183 to confirm your coverage.
What is the difference between inpatient rehab and residential treatment?
These terms are used interchangeably. Both mean you live at the facility full-time during treatment. “Inpatient” sometimes emphasizes medical supervision while “residential” can emphasize the therapeutic living environment. Liberty’s program includes both — 24/7 clinical oversight and a structured residential community.
Does Liberty treat co-occurring mental health conditions?
Yes — this is one of Liberty’s defining clinical strengths. As a Primary Mental Health facility, we’re fully credentialed to treat addiction and co-occurring conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma under the same roof and with the same team. Treating one without the other rarely produces lasting results.
What should I bring to inpatient drug rehab?
Comfortable clothing for at least a week, personal hygiene items (no alcohol-based products), prescribed medications in their original containers, and a valid ID. Our intake team provides a complete packing list when you confirm your admission. Leave valuables and electronics with cameras at home.
Can family members visit during inpatient treatment?
Yes. Structured family therapy and scheduled visits are part of our program. After an initial settling-in period — typically the first few days — family involvement is actively encouraged. Call (801) 997-9183 for current visiting policies.
What happens after I finish inpatient drug rehab?
Your treatment team works with you on a discharge plan well before your last day. Most clients transition to PHP or IOP at our West Jordan facility, sober living in American Fork (scholarship options available), or both. Liberty’s alumni program and lifelong support services remain available for as long as you need them.
